The Berglodge37 Vision

Blogbeitrag

With Berglodge37, we have turned our vision into reality – a feel-good oasis with the scent of mountain spruce wood combined with a fantastic view.

It offers space for enchanting encounters, integrative networking and spontaneous inspiration.

Living sustainability @Berglodge37 is a matter close to our hearts that contributes to a future that is fair to our grandchildren.

A vital environment is the basis for a vital society, a vital society is the basis for joint vital projects – this is our credo.

At the heart of our corporate culture is the exchange of ideas at eye level, the personal responsibility and respect of each individual, a healthy culture of error, openness to new ideas and the promotion of people’s strengths.

Our guests enjoy nature experiences with depth or a time-out with self-reflection: valuable experiences that should contribute to a vital life.

For us, sparkling eyes with a smile on their face are the most important indicators of happy guests and employees alike.

Raising the collective joie de vivre is our desirable goal.

OUR EMPLOYEES

OUR EMPLOYEES

We see ourselves as an innovative employer in the canton of Uri. In addition to full-time positions, we also offer part-time positions that allow young mothers, for example, to spend a few hours a week working at Berglodge37. All our employees share the vision and philosophy of Berglodge37 and can contribute ideas and suggestions for improvement on an ongoing basis as part of our participative management model. We value flat hierarchies and promote the talents of our employees.

BUILDING, MATERIALS & HEATING

BUILDING, MATERIALS & HEATING

A lot of regional "moon wood" was used in the construction of the Berglodge37 . This is wood felled during the waning moon. According to an ETH study, this wood has been proven to have various positive properties such as better stability, better durability, fire resistance, hardness and resistance to pests. The wood is denser and more resistant to pressure and has lower maintenance costs. All the wood used for the construction comes from Switzerland and has an excellent ecological balance. The local sourcing of raw materials was also of central importance for the other building materials. For example, the granite used in the lounge and Bergstube comes from Silenen and Ticino. The houses are heated by geothermal probe heating. The interfaces for a possible future photovoltaic system have been installed. The construction was mainly carried out by construction companies from Uri, whose quality craftsmanship enabled the lodge to be built in just 14 months.

We have prioritized sustainability in both the construction and operation of Berglodge37. Wherever possible, we work with regional partners. The bread, for example, comes from a regional bakery that meets our high standards. Our wine selection consists of Swiss wines, two of which come directly from Uri. Our yoghurt is made by one of our employees on her own farm and we source our cheese from the surrounding Alps. We see all our suppliers as partners and are in regular contact with them.

FOOD & BEVERAGE

FOOD & BEVERAGE

We consciously focus on vegetarian cuisine. We spoil our visitors with healthy, creative veggie dishes cooked with love. We want to inspire our guests to give up meat at home from time to time. Halving meat consumption on our planet is one of the biggest levers for achieving sustainability goals in terms of water scarcity, CO2 reduction, deforestation of the rainforests and other aspects. The vegetarian approach therefore fits perfectly with our philosophy. When creating our menus, we pay attention to seasonality and regionality. There are no deep fryers or microwaves in our kitchen, but when the weather is nice, we regularly cook on the fire ring in the great outdoors.

EMISSIONS

EMISSIONS

Great importance was attached to an optimal energy balance during the construction and operation of the Berglodge37 . This also applies to the entire logistics processes in procurement. The minimum booking period for rooms is two nights. The rooms are only cleaned on the day of departure. This saves unnecessary washing and optimizes the use of cleaning agents, which are all biodegradable. The operation of the geothermal heating system requires very little energy and the latest generation of kitchen appliances all meet the highest energy standards. We encourage our guests to reach the Berglodge37 by public transport wherever possible. The Eggberge are car-free and guests can reach us by cable car and a short walk. A continuous improvement process has been implemented to ensure and continue all relevant processes.

RECYCLING & DISPOSAL

RECYCLING & DISPOSAL

We avoid waste wherever possible. By not using meat and fish, we eliminate the need for complicated and costly refrigeration systems.

We have been awarded with ibex fairstay gold.

The leading Swiss sustainability label ibex fairstay stands for independently audited quality in the areas of management, ecology, regionality, social issues and finance & performance and thus for sustainable vacation experiences.
